2 PDP leaders killed as gunmen attack Lawmaker in Plateau

The incident occurred in Bassa Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday, April 20, 2022.

The lawmaker, Hon Musa Agha, member representing Jos North/Bassa constituency within the Plateau Home of Meeting, was on a ‘thanks tour’ of the final area of Bassa LGA when gunmen opened fire, Daily Trust reported.

Sadly, two PDP leaders who accompanied the lawmaker on the tour have been killed by the assailants’ bullets.

The Spokesperson of the Plateau State Police, ASP Ubah Gabriel, has confirmed the event, including that the lawmaker’s automobile was shattered by the attackers.

Gabriel mentioned investigation has begun to unravel the perpetrators of the dastardly act.

In the meantime, an ethnic group in Bassa, Iregwe, has condemned the assault and urged the safety operatives to establish and arrest the perpetrators.

Additionally, the Plateau state chapter of PDP has condemned the incident, including that the individuals of the state now not secure within the face of countless killings.

It was reported that the attackers stormed the villages on Sunday, April 10, 2022, shooting sporadically and setting properties belonging to the locals on fireplace.

A resident of the realm, Danladi Dukup, instructed NAN that some individuals lost their lives whereas others sustained numerous degrees of injuries.

He mentioned that lots of the villagers have fled their houses for security following the invasion.

A member of the home of representatives, Yusuf Gagdi, later claimed that 92 individuals have been killed within the assault whereas 300 individuals have been displaced.
