Pheelz, the Afrobeats breakout star, has signed a deal with Warner Records, one of many world’s elite record labels.
The lately signed deal comes a couple of weeks after he launched ‘Finesse’, his collaborative single with BNXN, which went viral and now sits at number 6 on this week’s Billboard’s US Afrobeats.
In an interview with Billboard journal, the 27-year-old singer, whose actual name is Phillip Moses, described the contract as “unbelievable” and “a blessing to see my music open such doorways for me”.
“I took like 20 minutes just to take all of it in, and perceive what this moment is. I made a timestamp and movie in my thoughts how I got to that moment. I had my manager [there],” he mentioned.
“It was unbelievable, man. Having my music get that form of consideration and open that form of door for me is a blessing. I still have whiplash. I haven’t been able to process every thing, to be honest. It’s simply been back-to-back work and back-to-back shows and all that.”
On his part, Steve Carless, president of A&R Black Music and Associated Labels at Warner Records, mentioned he was intrigued by the singer’s ardour for technology and music.
He mentioned though Pheelz is in sync with the cultural and artistic network around the globe, the label’s focus is to uplift his model.
“What was so compelling about Pheelz once we first meet was his ardour and affection for music and the Web3 house. He’s creating his personal NFTs and graphic artwork, which aided within the launch and recognition of ‘Finesse’,” he mentioned.
