Governor Sanwo-Olu canceled the ongoing LASU Vice-Chancellor appointment process


Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has cancelled the ongoing process set up for the appointment of a substantive ninth Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU). 

The Lagos State Governor in an announcement released by his Chief Press Secretary Mr Gboyega Akosile mentioned that the process was cancelled after investigations and stakeholders engagement which have been initiated after some petitions have been received. 

Sanwo-Olu directed {that a} recent process that would terminate in 45 days ought to commence instantly.

Asides directed the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olanrewaju Fagbohun to convene an emergency Senate assembly for the purpose of appointing one of the Deputy Vice-Chancellors, who isn’t a candidate in the cancelled selection process as Acting Vice-Chancellor from Monday, January 11, 2021, when his tenure will end, the establishment’s Senate was additionally directed to select amongst its members, a professional team chairman to superintend the assembly and conduct of the election of Acting Vice-Chancellor.

The statement read; 

“Governor Sanwo-Olu was inundated with petitions arising from the selection process of the Vice Chancellor by the Governing Council. After a thorough evaluation and investigation of the various complaints, Mr. Governor, in his capacity as the Visitor to the University ordered the cancellation of the process.”
