Gunmen kidnap policeman and two others from Ogun mosque

An Inspector of Police and two other worshippers have been kidnapped by gunmen who invaded a mosque at Soyoye in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The Police officer, Inspector Kamarudeen Bello, who is also the Chief Imam of the Mosque, was kidnapped 4 days after his spouse gave birth.

A source advised Daily Trust that the abductors had contacted the households of the victims, demanding N5 million ransom for every victim. The kidnap victims have now regained freedom after fee of the ransom.

The supply advised the publication;

“The wife of Inspector Kamarudeen was contacted with the cellphone number of one of the kidnapped victims.

“I don’t understand how much each of them paid, however I feel the police Inspector parted with about N700,000 before he was released.”

When contacted, the Police Spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the kidnapping and release of the victims on Sunday.  Oyeyemi, nonetheless, mentioned he was not conscious if any ransom was paid.
