Police have arrested a person who was filmed dangling a newborn child the other way up by the ankles.
The disturbing three-minute video was shared on social media on Good Friday, April 15, inflicting outrage throughout twitter and Fb.
In the video, the person can be seen repeatedly dangling the three-week-old boy upside down by the ankles earlier than flipping him over like a rag doll.
At one level, he picks the child up by his dress and swings the toddler in circles along with his head unsupported.
He then places the infant again down and the girl is heard saying “oh he’s lovable take a look at his legs”.
The person then picks the infant once more and dangles him within the air the other way up.
A lady says nervously, “dear God in heaven” then adds, “don’t baptise the kid like that whatever you do”.
The person once more grabs the kid by the toes once more and dangles him earlier than lifting him up and down 4 instances saying “In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit”.
The lady says: “You’re a bad bastard are you aware that? You’re a bad bastard”.
The person then takes the infant once more by the toes and begins swinging him as the girl laughs out loud repeatedly.
The lady then says “stop, cease, I’m going to send this to your sister” and the man places the infant down and is heard saying “I really like ya” earlier than cuddling him.
He snuggles the infant then says, “he’s fearful of me” however the lady says “Ah he’s not afraid of you he loves ya”.
She added: “He’s not afraid of you, he’s a hero”.
The Irish Mirror reports the incident was filmed at a residence within the north east of Ireland. It’s understood the infant has now been taken into care.
Gardai confirmed to the Irish Sunday Mirror that the person has been arrested.
A spokesperson stated: “Gardai are investigating an incident of alleged baby neglect within the North East of the nation.
“A person in his 30s has been arrested in relation to this incident.
“Because of the delicate nature of this incident no additional particulars can be disclosed at the moment.”
