Manchester United scorching sensation, Edinson Cavani has apologized for a social media post where he made a racially insensitive remark after helping Manchester United win Southampton 3-2 on Sunday, November 29.

After guiding Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side to victory towards Southampton where he scored twice within the second half, the 33-year-old veteran striker replied to a buddy’s congratulatory message with ‘Gracias ni***’ a term which may very well be seen as racist within the UK.

He deleted the post after he was made conscious of how the wording may very well be interpreted within the UK because the Soccer Affiliation might probably ban him.

It’s understood the striker believed he was appearing in a pleasant manner with a mate and did not intend to be racist.

In an announcement on Monday, November 30, Cavani apologized for any offense he might have brought on, he stated: “The message I posted after the game on Sunday was intended as an affectionate greeting to a friend, thanking him for his congratulations after the game.

“The last thing I wanted to do was cause offense to anyone. I am completely opposed to racism and deleted the message as soon as it was explained that it can be interpreted differently. I would like to sincerely apologize for this.”

An announcement from Manchester United added: “It’s clear to us that there was completely no malicious intent behind Edinson’s message and he deleted it as quickly as he was knowledgeable that it may very well be misconstrued.

“Edinson has issued an apology for any unintentional offense prompted. Manchester United and all of our players are absolutely dedicated to the battle towards racism.”
