Fashionable Nigerian singer, Rema, has disclosed how he made a transition from gospel to secular music so he may cater for his household.

He made this known throughout a talk show, Rubbin’ Minds show on Channels TV on Sunday.

In keeping with him, the change started when he began going to sing at bars and lounges simply so he could make ends meet .

The Benin-born singer disclosed that before then, he was the pinnacle of a gospel rap group in his church.

He Mentioned;

“I was nonetheless in Benin when that change occurred. Lots of people thought that once I got signed, I began deviating.

“No. Truly, life was tough in Benin. I’m not that guy to ask the individuals in church to pay me as a result of I’m doing God’s work.

“Proper there in Benin, I began going to competitions, going to bars, lounges, political rallies; simply attempting to get on the stage and hold a microphone, to at the least get sprayed some cash to come back again dwelling and feed my household, as a result of we have been going through tough times.

“I lost my father and brother and I wanted to come through for my household. At that time limit, I felt like that’s the place I started spacing out; little by little, till I just exiled.”

Rema revealed that the transition was bizarre for him and his mum however he was unable to persuade the latter about his selection.

“It was bizarre for me and most especially for my mum as a result of she was well-known in church. I didn’t do any a lot explaining. I simply told her to belief me.”
